☀️ Mateo Karas Bay ☀️ 17.10.2022 12:21 ☀️ Mateo Karas Bay ☀️ 17.10.2022 12:21 am As I pulled his little body from the water and onto my chest I felt a golden ring wrap around our family, vibrating and resonating like the sound of singing bowl in one big whoosh. I remember saying out loud “We’re all together again” knowing that we had been a family before. These are the moments my heart goes back to when I remember his birth. How empowering it was to birth him in the safety of our cozy home. In our own time In our own way Undisturbed Without interventions Deeply supported by our Midwife In the warmth of the water & with Artur and Luna by my side. Tears streamed as we watched his birth video and scrolled through photos loving captured by @oliviadickesonfilms. How grateful we are to be able to press play and relive it all again, for years to come. If there was one word to describe her it would be If there was one word to describe her it would be Grace. Everything about Grandma was feminine, gracious and calm. She was part of my safety growing up. Someone who was reliable, dependable and was consistent in her composure and grounded energy. She was one of the first women to show me what true self care looked like. She knew how to make the simple thing feel special. Like a salad sandwich, cut diagonally across. Visiting her as an adult and being greeted at the door by her always made me teary. She was consistently beautifully dress, with matching jewels, a sparkle in her blue eyes and her gentle voice saying “Hello Darling Jessie Lee.” Over the years she softened. She shared wonderful stories of her life experiences and was an open listener. She always knew the right things to say to help me see things in a new perspective, or just to acknowledge that sometimes, life is challenging. In her last days I sat with her. And what an honor that was. To offer her love and care in the same way she had done for me. She transcended on the 17th of September and Mateo arrived on the 17th of October. A beautiful dance between death and birth. I will always remember my last day with you, the promises I made to keep the memories of you alive , the last lemon I picked from your tree, the feel of your soft silver hair between my fingers. Forever with me, GGB
9 months in 9 months out 9 months is a beautifu 9 months in 9 months out 9 months is a beautiful milestone to reflect on in early motherhood and postpartum life. The same window of time. Life growing internally vs externally for both the Mother and her baby. But it can also feel layered with expectation. To be back to a certain way. Back to the pre baby body. Looking flawless with a young babe in tow. My belly is still soft and jiggly. My skin is still stretched. My ligaments and bones are still soft. My hair is still thin but slowly growing back. My pigmentation is still there. My eyes are still a little tired. I wear my knickers high over my hips because it’s way more comfortable. And that’s ok. That’s beautiful. That’s normal. My body is still in breastfeeding mode, with milk flowing for Mateo whenever he needs. It’s holding onto some of my pregnancy kilos to protect my milk supply incase I get sick. How wonderful is that? I feel well in my body I feel happy in my spirit I am mentally stable Maybe this is what we should be celebrating.
