This was the last sunset of 2022 Watching it sink This was the last sunset of 2022 Watching it sink into the sea from one of my favorite places The cape Every time I come down here, I go to the edge of the cliff I take a deep breath in And I scream I scream out all of the shallow breaths I’ve been holding onto All of the words that I wish I had said All the frustration and anger that has been held in I scream until I feel like it’s all out Until I can feel my voice resonate through my entire body And this. This makes me so happy. So happy that once I’m done, I laugh. This is now our family ritual. We open the door, put down our luggage, go to the cliff, hold hands and we scream. I haven’t set an intention for this year yet, I’m waiting until The Lunar New Year. 2023 is year of the Rabbit A year of hope
Yesterday was my last visit from Dannii @florescen Yesterday was my last visit from Dannii @florescence.postpartum and we closed in the most beautiful way. We shared tears and belly laughs as we reflected on the wild ride of those early postpartum days and all the things that went on in my home. How grateful I am for you keeping my head up, being an anchor in uncertain times and for reminding me that there is magic in the small things. The food The yoni steams The belly wraps The giggles about husbands The holding The snorts from laughing too hard The tears that flowed The tinkering in the kitchen The love This is just a small view of what postpartum care can look like. So much unfolded beyond the lense of my iPhone So much more to share Forever thankful 🤍
And just like that my 40 day postpartum window has And just like that my 40 day postpartum window has slowly closed. I will forever be postpartum. Because I gave birth, because I am a Mama. Together we’ve felt Euphoric love Deep-seated rage Hysterical giggles Heighten emotions Love heart eyes Irritated Complete It hasn’t all been oxytocin highs, cuddles, milk scented kisses, chirping birds, roses and swanning around in robes, fluffy slippers and face masks. (although there have absolutely been moments of that!) It’s been wild, raw, heart-wrenching, confronting, unfiltered, pockets of pure joy and a little bit of magic. Deeply preparing for postpartum, staying home, hiring professional support and surrendering to everything that unfolds, the gold and the dirt, has been life changing. Even though my 40 days are over, i’m still taking it slow and not diving straight back into the outside world. It’s going to take months, years maybe to find my way as a Mama of two. To adjust, to integrate, to process. And that’s ok. That’s normal. That’s what’s needed.
